A citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. Below is more information about the F-1 Visa and J-1 Visa.

  1. After receiving acceptance by GCU, you will be enrolled into the Student and Exchange Visitor Program(SEVP).
  2. After all related fees are paid, GCU will create and mail you an "I-20" form.
  3. When you receive an "I-20" from GCU, complete the online DS-160(Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form) and print the confirmation page.
  4. Schedule your interview at the local US Embassy or Consulate near you.
  5. Gather all necessary documents.
    • Form DS-160 confirmation page
    • Form I-20
    • Form I-901 SEVIS Fee receipt
    • Your Financial Documents - bank statements to show the ability to pay for the study and living while staying in the U.S.
    • Letter of Admission from GCU
    • Passport-will still be valid 6 months in the future

  1. When you are accepted into our program, GCU will issue you a Form DS-2019. The Responsible Officer(RO) will assist in this process.
  2. When you receive Form DS-2019 from GCU, complete the online DS-160(Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form) and print the confirmation page.

  4. Gather all necessary documents.
